The Braves are three games into this 2007 season and their record is 2-1. The loss to the Wolverines of Polk County was only their third regular season loss since 2005. I witnessed the Andrews game in Cherokee back on August 17th and as I left that game several people asked me what I thought of this edition of the 2007 Brave's. I replied that the only weekness I could see was in the secondary but, I thought with the linebackers and defensive line that we have they could make up for that weekness, I was wrong. The following week Polk County came to Cherokee with a passing game and handed the Braves thier worst lopsided lost in three years by a score of 47-27. The defensive line did very well in the first quarter and rushed a talanted quarterback in to some bad decisions but once the line got a little winded he had time to throw and picked the secondary apart. After the game I talked to Coach Skooter McCoy of the Braves and he admitted that the secondary made some mistakes and that the coaching staff tried some ploys to confuse the Wolveirines and ended up confusing themselves. The Braves have now been working on a cover two scheme so they don't have a repeat of what happened on August 24th. The Braves are off this week then they travel to Choctaw School in Mississippi for the annual Battle of the Indian Nations. This time off will allow the Brave's to work on their cover two and the Wishbone which was added back in to the offense. The Brave's bounced back last week with a 42-0 win over Copper Basin which is in Tennesse. The Brave's had five differnent players score touchdowns and Langston Wood Cherokee's all time leading rusher again rused for over a 100 yards and scored two of those touchdowns. That's it from here in Cherokee, look for more coments about the Brave's in the coming weeks as I will try and give you the insight. From Cherokee this has S. Crowe.
